jueves, 26 de enero de 2012 "Jerusalem". El comienzo de "La ruta de las almas", marzo de 2011 Este fue el comienzo, en marzo del 2011. Caminando solo por Jerusalem, estuve unas 3 ó 4 horas inmerso en una especie de alucinación fascinante. Me salí de la ruta del mercado y me adentré en zonas menos frecuentadas por turistas. La ciudad está dividida en cuatro, la zona judía, la zona la cristiana, la zona musulmana y la zona armenia.  Hubo dos momentos en los que parece que estaba accediendo a lugares que no debía, quizás por la hora. Si mal no recuerdo, sucedió entre las 5 y las 6 de la tarde... Atravesé un gran corredor, como una especie de pasillo gigantesco que conducía a un patio y este desembocaba en un espacio abierto. Dos militares muy jóvenes, armados, israelíes, uno parecía etíope, el otro era más semita, me pararon justo antes de cruzar el corredor y como sorprendidos y medio sonrientes me dijeron que para allá no se podía pasar. Más tarde  supuse que ese espacio abierto era La explanada de las mezquitas o El Monte del templo. Para comprender la complejidad del lugar, es bueno saber que es sagrado para musulmanes y judíos. Allí se encuentran dos de los templos más importantes del Islam, “La Mezquita de Al-Aqsa”, la mayor de Jerusalem y la “Cúpula de la Roca”, construidas en el siglo VII. Esta última alberga la piedra desde la que fue elevado Mahoma al cielo. Para el judaísmo el Monte del templo es el lugar más sagrado, el lugar de "la piedra del sacrificio de Isaac", la Sagrada Piedra de Abraham, donde el rey David construyó un santuario para guardar el Arca de la Alianza. Justo ahí se erigió el Primer Templo o Templo de Salomón destruido en el 587 a. C., después se reconstruyó el Segundo Templo que volvió a ser destruido en el 70 d. C. por los romanos, excepto el muro occidental, conocido como Muro de las Lamentaciones o de los Lamentos. Aún se conserva y constituye el lugar de plegaria más importante para los judíos. Según la tradición judía, es el sitio donde deberá construirse el tercer templo. Por todo esto es entendible que sea actualmente uno de los lugares sagrados más complejos y en tensión del mundo. Salí de ahí tomando otro camino de laberintos, escaleras, túneles y evidentemente seguí yendo hacia la zona equivocada a esa hora, unos niños árabes se me acercaron medio asustados, me preguntaron y advirtieron a la vez en inglés con marcado acento: “Where do you go? Only Muslims¡¡”, seguidamente me acompañaron para indicarme el camino de salida y antes de despedirnos me preguntaron si les podía dejar dinero, lo cual hice con gusto. Parte del recorrido estuve filmando malamente con el teléfono, anoté ideas, frases que me venían a la mente. Ahí empezó a tomar forma la idea del proyecto, no sabía exactamente lo que haría, pero estaba seguro de querer crear algo musical y visual donde volcara todo lo que estaba sintiendo y mezclarlo con lo que ya llevaba cocinando respecto al concepto del Caribe y el Mediterráneo como un espejo. Aún conservo lo primero que escribí en mi móvil en el Bloc de notas: “Tengo un corazón dividido, Jerusalem es mi sino, un muro entre tu sueño y el mío lamentando los abrazos que nunca nos dimos”. Ya no es exactamente así, pero este texto fue la simiente de una letra completada después y que al final, con la música compuesta, fue tomando forma, hasta llegar a lo que escuchan. El video, hecho con pedazos de lo que recogí visualmente ese día de marzo del 2011, no tiene más pretensión que mostrarles un poco el contexto y el esqueleto del tema, lo primero que grabé en mi estudio. Es la maqueta de lo que se ha ido produciendo después, con la participación de amigos, grandes artistas y profesionales (mencionados en la información del proyecto) que han ido aportando su arte para que poco a poco “Jerusalem” vaya encontrando el camino dentro de “La ruta de las almas”. thursday 26th of january 2012 Jerusalem the beginning of The Road of the souls, March 2011 This was the beginning, in March 2011. Walking alone in the streets of Jerusalem, I was during three or four hours, immersed in a sort of fascinating hallucination. I went out of the road of the market and entered in zones less frequented by tourists. The town is divided en four, the Jewish zone, the Christian zone, the Muslim zone and the Armenian one. There were two moments in which it looks like I was going to places prohibited, maybe in reason of the hours, if I do not badly remember, between 5 and 6 p.m. I crossed a great corridor, sort of gigantesque passage leading to a patio and to an open space. Two young armed militaries and Israeli, one looks like an Ethiopian and the other more Semite, stopped me before I could cross the corridor and surprised and half smiling, they told me that by this way it was not permitted to go. Later, I discover that this open space was the esplanade of the Mosques or the Mount of the Temple. To understand the complexity of this place, it is good to know that it is sacred for the Muslims and the Jews. There you can find two of the most important temples of Islam: The Mosque of Al-Aqsa, the biggest of Jerusalem, and the - Dome of the rock - built in the VII century. The last one shelters the rock from which Mahomet was lifted up to the sky. For the Judaism, the mount of the Temple is the most sacred place, the place of – The rock of the sacrifice of Isaac – the sacred rock of Abraham, where the king David built a sanctuary to keep the Arch of Alliance. Just here was built the first temple, or temple of Salomon demolished in 587 b. C, after that, was rebuilt the second Temple, destructed in 70 b. C by the Romans, to the exception of the occidental wall, known as the Wall of the Lamentations. Still yet is conserved and it is the most important praying place for the Jews.  Following the Jewish tradition, it is the place where the third Temple will have to be built. For all of this, we can understand that it is actually one of the sacred places, indeed the more complex and of more tension of the world. I went out of there, taking other ways of labyrinths, stairs, tunnels and of course, I went to the wrong place at this time, some Arab children half afraid, came asking and adverting me at the same time, in English with strong accent – Where do you go ? Only Muslims !!! -  after that they accompanied me to the way of exit but before leaving they ask for some money, which I gave them with pleasure. Par of the journey I was badly filming with the mobile, took notes of ideas, sentences that I had in mind. There I began to form the idea of the project, I did not know exactly what I will do, but I was sure to want to create something musical and visual where I will put all what I was feeling and mixing it with what I was cooking in respect of the concept of the Caribbean and Mediterranean as a mirror. Still yet I have the first things I wrote in the Note Block of my mobile - I have a divided heart; Jerusalem is my fate, a wall between your dream and mine, lamenting the embraces that we never gave us. – Yet, it is not exactly like that, but this text was the seed of the letter completed after, and which at the end, with the music, took form to what you are listening. The video, made of pieces of what I took in this day of March 2011, has no more pretension than showing you few things of the context and the skeleton of the theme, the first I recorded in my studio. It is the model of what was produced after with the participation of friends, great artists and professionals, who had been giving their art little by little, to obtain that JERUSALEM was meeting its way inside THE ROAD OF THE SOULS. miércoles, 18 de enero de 2012 Bienvenidos/as a La ruta de las almas. Comenzamos camino ¿vienes? Esta es la primera entrada del blog pero una etapa más de una ruta que comenzó hace ya meses. La ruta de las almas es un proyecto musical de Pavel Urkiza que empieza en un viaje a Israel, por las calles del viejo Jerusalem, fascinado por la energía que irradian sus calles, testimonio formidable de vicisitudes humanas, religiosas, políticas y culturales con siglos de historia en sus piedras, calles y templos. Este fue el punto de partida de un proyecto multidisciplinar fascinante: un dico-libro-documental-web-proyecto solidario en el que llevamos varios meses trabajando y que esperamos pueda ver la luz en unos meses. Desde el principio Pavel abre el proyecto a la participación de muchos artistas, así que podría decirse que es una verdadera obra coral, a la que cada día se están sumando más amigos que quieren dejar su huella y su cariño en esta ruta. Hemos grabado ya en Madrid y Nueva York. En breve lo haremos a Granada, Toledo y Córdoba, ciudades paradigmáticas de encuentro y convivencia cultural. Y en marzo completaremos la ruta yendo a Israel y Palestina. En las grabaciones de Nueva York pudimos volver a uno de nuestros hogares en Manhattan: Tucasa Studio, donde fuimos acogidos tan bien como siempre por Mario Careaga, El Wajiro. Las grabaciones fueron hechas por el propio Pavel, con su estudio portátil. Toda la parte fotográfica y de video está al cargo de David Arenal y Fernando Casado. Wednesday 18th of January 2012 Welcome to The road of the souls.We are taking the road. Are you coming ? This is the first entry of the blog but also one step more of a road, which began months ago. THE ROAD OF THE SOULS is a musical project of Pavel Urkiza, which began in a journey to Israel, in the streets of the old Jerusalem, captivated by the energy of its streets, formidable witness of the human vicissitudes, religious, politics and cultural with centuries of history in its stones, streets and temples. This was the starting point of a captivating project multidiscipline: a book with disk- documental-web- a solidarity project in which we work from some months and hoping that it can see the light very soon. Since the beginning, Pavel opened the project to the participation of many artists, we can say that it is a true coral work, and every day are coming more friends who want to let their traces and their affection to this Road. And in March we will complete the road travelling to Israel and Palestine.
